What a fantastic night we had at the Elizabethan Banquet…
We would just like to let you know what a fantastic night we had at the Elizabethan Banquet night to celebrate my Dad’s 80th birthday. Our ages ranged from 18 up to 80 and all of us enjoyed the first class entertainment, food and drink. Mum and Dad were made Baron and Baroness for the night and we were allocated the top table which was totally unexpected but most enjoyable. I would thoroughly recommend this night to anyone who has something special to celebrate, whatever the age. We will be back in July 14 for our son’s Wedding – we can’t wait! Thanks Again, Jayne Clarke. 7th October 2013
We had a fantastic stay…
We have just returned from our night at Lumley Castle. We had a fantastic stay, made extra special by an upgrade by the front desk staff. We were very impressed, not only by the hotel, but by the warmth of every staff member who really seemed happy to be working for the hotel (a rare thing, nowadays)! I would like to thank you for hosting this competition – we will certainly spread the news about the hotel to friends and relatives.

80th Birthday Celebrations
We would like to say a big thank you to the staff at Lumley Castle.
Yesterday we had hired the Gilt Room for an 80th Birthday Sunday Lunch. Not only did the staff make the day very special by all the attention and support they gave but the food was wonderful. We had a limited party due to the age of most of the guests but those who made it had an excellent day which will be remembered for some time to come.
We had a wonderful day and wished to ensure that you are fully aware of the part you played in making it so perfect. Thank you – Mrs Walker, 29th July 2013
Our silver wedding celebrations…
Hello Nancy, I would just like to say a very big thank you to you and all of the staff at Lumley Castle who made our silver wedding celebrations yesterday special. The room was lovely, and the food great. The card and roses were a lovely surprise. Our guests were all very impressed, so much so that some of them are talking about doing the same for their silver and golden wedding celebrations. Thanks again Angela & Keith Scott, 22nd April 2013
A big thank you…
I just wanted to a big THANK YOU to you and all of the staff at Lumley Castle for making our weekend so brilliant !! (Walton & Roskell from 15 to 18 March.) We cannot fault the service nor friendliness showed to us by all of your staff with whom we came into contact with, and as for our meal in the restaurant on Saturday night – Fab ! - the breakfasts were awesome too.
Again, a big thank you for allowing Mr & Mrs Roskell access to our room to surprise my partner – it worked. The first time I’ve ever known Karen to be speechless!! So many people at work have been asking how it went, and my answer is simple – Brilliant, you need to go yourself. We’ll definitely be back at some point. Thanks once again. Regards Steve Walton, 24th March 2013
Enchanted by Narnia…
I just wanted to say thank you so much for such a wonderful evening. After a long and exhausting couple of days this was just the tonic we needed. So on a whim and having had dinner at the beautiful Lumley Castle, sometime ago and wanted to stay ever since, we decided to call on the off chance. On arriving we found ourselves upgraded to a themed room which was amazing thank you so much. I had such a little girl moment enchanted by Narnia as I walked through the wardrobe to my bathroom.
Our evening was wonderful with a stunning meal in the very romantic restaurant. The service was amazing, the food stunning, we both said it was one of the best nights we have ever had. Thank you all so very much. Warmest regards - Kathryn & Guy, 6th March 2013.
It is going to be their special place too now…
Dear Jan. It is a belated thank you, but I just wanted you to pass on how much we enjoyed ourselves on New Year’s Eve. The meal and the service was first class in the Sceptre Suite. Thank you again for a lovely time, it is always such a pleasure coming to Lumley Castle.
We had our Pearl Wedding luncheon in the Sceptre Suite in Dec 2010 – bad weather stopped a lot of people coming which was a shame – but as a consequence my Godson came because he couldn’t get where he was supposed to be. He and his wife to be (Andrew and Gem Leighton) loved that day so much they are getting married on 6 April 2013 at the Castle. It is going to be their special place too now. Thought you would like to know. - Julie Pendleton, 15th January 2013
We will definitely be back and certainly won’t wait another 11 years to do so…
Re: 3rd January & recent visit. I am emailing to express our sincere thanks regarding our recent stay at Lumley Castle. We stayed at the hotel some 11 years previously, where my husband proposed, and at the time, we were disappointed to find that we could not hold our Wedding there. Hence, this January, following our 10th Wedding Anniversary and almost to the day of the proposal, we decided to revisit with a short stay.
From the moment we arrived we were greeted by friendly, attentive staff. We were given a lovely Castle feature room and took a superb dinner that evening in the restaurant. The food was of a very high standard and compliments should be given to the Chef and his team. We also had a drink in the Library bar, and once again, the staff were attentive, polite and friendly.
My husband and I have stayed in several 4 and 5 star quality hotels over the years, both at home and abroad, on business and for leisure, and we felt Lumley Castle certainly surpassed many of them with its marvellous staff, authentic features and superb dining. As a whole, the hotel offers a fabulous package and just delivers something extra special.
We enjoyed our stay so much that today, we decided to take our two young daughters for afternoon tea as a treat. Travelling a little way, from Whitley Bay, to do so. The girls had a look around the Castle with my husband while I organised the tea. During this time, they had the pleasure of meeting Adam, a member of staff at the hotel. He took the time to speak to the girls, tell them a few facts about the place and even show them a few things. The girls returned to their tea full of excitement at what they had seen. On leaving, we had one last look around and once again, met Adam, we got talking again about our stay earlier in the week and we discussed the upcoming Halloween event and whether it would be suitable for our girls due to their age. Adam was so helpful, offered to find out about it for us and even showed us the dungeon where some of the event would be held. Adam is a credit to the hotel and I hope that our thanks can be passed on to him for his friendliness and the time he took with us. It is not often that hotel staff have time for people, let alone a party with young children.
We all came away with lovely memories from our stay this week and the tea we had today. We will definitely be back and certainly won’t wait another 11 years to do so. - With kindest regards, Mr & Mrs A & P Jackson, 6th January 2013
