Murder Mystery Night

Secrets, lies and plenty of motives for murder will have you laughing out loud in our new murder mystery nights.

And with a new plot every month you can come back whenever you wish to pit your detective wits against our shady suspects who all have something to hide.

Enjoy a three course meal as the drama plays out before you, uncover clues and quiz the suspects to get to the truth. Will you be our Top Detective? 

This year our murders will be taking place from 1912 to the roaring 20s, from the 50s all the way through to modern day.
You won’t want to miss our new murder mystery nights.

Friday 9th & Saturday 17th February – Murdered At First Sight

The TV show that puts the perfect couples together is all wrapped up. The couples are married and the party has started but when one bridegroom goes missing, secret connections are about to be revealed and it seems someone is prepared to kill to stop anyone discovering what they did or perhaps a broken heart is about to lead to murder. This plot is perfect for an alternative Valentine celebration with the one you love.

Saturday 9th & Friday 29th March – Silent Movie Murder

Fading silent movie star Gerda Loynes is expecting to throw a party to celebrate her latest award but tonight the award has gone to the woman stealing roles that would once have gone to Gerda and she’s stealing Gerda’s husband too. Just how far will Gerda go to save her once glittering career and her marriage too. Will she resort to murder or does someone else have a motive for a silent movie murder. This is set in the 1920s so come dressed in glitteringly glamorous style.

Friday 26th April – Murder & The Millionairess

You are invited to the 21st birthday party of twins Greta and Ottilie Lovelace, the night before Greta inherits £9.7 million from a recently deceased wealthy aunt…if she lives long enough. Ottilie is delighted that her older sister, by just a few minutes, is about to come into a fortune but their stepmother has different ideas. The wealthy aunt died in a break-in gone wrong, an unsolved crime that you need to solve and fast because this 21st birthday party is going to be murder!

May 3rd and 18th – A First Class Murder

Join the first-class passengers as they board the unsinkable Titanic heading for New York but not everyone is as they seem. Secrets are about to be revealed, blackmail and revenge are being served up with dinner and a killer is stalking the decks. Everyone has a motive for murder but who will be bumped off first. Mrs Clementine Nokkham-Dedd is taking her daughter, Eglantine, to seek a suitable husband in New York but Eglantine has other ideas. Tonight they will dine at the First Officer’s table with people they have never met before, people they will get to know very well when a body is discovered and accusations begin to fly.

June 15th and 21st – Murder Without A Hitch

Maia Millions is getting married but with her bridegroom has gone missing, her bridesmaid is green with envy and a paparazzi photographer has gate-crashed the wedding. Family secrets mean the best day of her life is about to become her worst!

July 19th and August 3rd – Murder On The Menu

Celebrity judges Jayne Fondant and Mario Mascarpone have arrived at the village fete to judge the cake competition, but someone has put murder on the menu and one of them won’t be leaving alive! Was it poison in the icing or a beating with the buttercream?

September 6th and 21st – Murder By The Book

It’s 1926 and the Queen of Crime is missing. The staff at Lumley Castle Hotel are all agog with the news and they’re convinced the woman sitting writing her novel in the corner is the real Christie! When a murder occurs, it seems to have come straight from the pages of her book. From fiction to fact and it looks as though one of the guests is committing murder!

October 18th – Murder Is Frightful

You are invited to spend the night in a haunted house…if you dare. Wealthy recluse Madden Batty was found dead on the doorstep of her home, Haunts Hill House. Your invitation offers you a chance to share in her inheritance but not everything is as it seems, and you’ll soon be investigating a murder.

November 8th and 23rd – Murder & Sparkling Wine

Lord Jolyon Jape is hosting the annual Lumley Castle party but there’s an uninvited guest, a Bulgarian ballet star who is not all he seems and a body in the library! Meet a Countess, a ballet dancer, a former maid and his Lordship in this classic-style murder mystery. Set in 1932 and Lumley Castle is Lord Jolly’s home for the night.

Murdery Mystery Event At Lumley Castle Hotel

Lumley Castle Hotel – Event Terms & Conditions

Covid -19 Update: All event bookings will be refundable or transferable in the event that Lumley Castle is closed, or the event attendee(s) is unable to travel as a direct result of UK Government imposed restrictions either regionally or nationally on the day the event has been scheduled.

Refunds based on the likelihood of restrictions being instigated will not be processed until UK government guidelines have been fully updated.

1. Price
All prices stated are inclusive of VAT at the current rate.

2. Payments
Bookings are only accepted by the company on full payment per person. All monies paid are nonrefundable.

3. Dietary Requirements
Lumley Castle must be notified of all dietary requirements and special requests at the point of booking. Regrettably, we are unable to cater for any requirements we have not been informed of in advance.

4. Cancellation
The company reserve the right to cancel any booking not fully paid for four weeks prior to the date of the event. The company also reserves the right to cancel an event at any time at its discretion without being liable to the customer for any loss or liability arising from such cancellation.

Unless prevented by force majeure Lumley Castle will provide the accommodation, facilities and services as specifically outlined within the booking confirmation. Force Majeure explicitly covers major events outside of Lumley Castle’s influence or control and includes the temporary or permanent interruption of business caused by severe weather, local or regional power outages, and government lockdown closures due to epidemics and/or pandemics other than Covid-19.

In the event of force majeure, any previously paid deposits will not be refunded however, all bookings and events will be offered new dates to rebook. In the event an alternative date cannot be agreed, credit to the value of the booking will be provided for up to 12 months from the date of the original booking, subject to availability. In the event that a future booking cannot be arranged, a refund will be offered once the credit has expired after 12 months and guests are advised to claim against their credit card or travel insurance.

5. Discounted Rates
Lumley Castle Hotel will not make any refunds or reimbursements if packages or events are advertised at a discounted rate after your booking has been confirmed.

6. Property & Vehicles
The company regrets that it cannot accept liability for loss or damage to visitor’s property, goods of effects, howsoever arising which occur at or on the company premises. Vehicles parked on the company’s premises are left at the owner’s risk and Lumley Castle Hotel will not accept liability for any loss incurred or damage sustained whilst at or on the premises. It is the responsibility of the lead name to communicate this to all attendee’s and by making a booking Lumley Castle accepts this to have been communicated.

7. Photography
All photographs taken are at the copyright of Lumley Castle Hotel. Whilst we are happy for you to take your own photographs, we politely ask that you respect the enjoyment of those around you and refrain from using camcorders or video due to copyright protection.
